In which we spend 15 days travelling, some of it through time…

We have March 15th-30th to get done everything we’d like to do. It obviously won’t be enough time to see and do everything we want but enough to accomplish some of the highlights. I’m sure my goals are different from my partner’s which are different from our friend D, a longtime mutual friend, who’s going with us. The trick in travelling anything other than solo is balancing everyone’s mutual desires. Before I forget, here’s the map:

Southeast Asia Journey 2012

Our major destinations during our trip next month

As you can see, we have our work cut out for us. Travelling alone eats up quite a bit. On the way to Thailand, we depart Toronto in the morning, travel via Chicago and Hong Kong to Bangkok and arrive the next evening. The next evening!! We lose almost two entire days travelling there. On the way back, however, we actually arrive in Chicago before we left Tokyo. A little time travel anyone? More later.

40 Days Left…

…until my journey to see the Reclining Buddha, Emerald Buddha and undoubtedly many other Buddhas, begins.

Reclining Buddha

The reclining Buddha apparently represents an image of the Buddha as he is passing on, entering nirvana, shuffling off this mortal coil, achieving enlightenment. Choose your adjectives. Needless to say, I am excited beyond comprehension. I think, perhaps, I am anticipating this trip more than any in recent memory. And that includes climbing all over Machu Picchu. It’s also a chance to really put the new Sony DSLR through its paces.
